WORKERS AT JOHNSON BROTHERS DISTRIBUTING JOIN LOCAL 251
The 12 drivers and warehouse workers at Johnson Brothers Distributing in North Kingston, Rhode Island voted 2-1 to join Teamsters Local 251 yesterday.
The group, who work for Rhode Island’s third largest beer, wine and spirits distributor, deliver products throughout the state. The organizing drive began early this spring. Johnson Brothers conducted a high-pressure anti-union campaign.
“It’s about time” said Alex Palaez, an 18-year Johnson Brothers, who was ecstatic over the vote results.
“Essential workers are being mistreated by corporations more than ever. Workers collectively demanding respect, fair pay & benefits and safe working conditions is the way to go,” said Matthew Taibi, Teamsters Local 251 Principal Officer.
Congratulations to the newest members of the Teamster family.
