Teamsters Local 340 recently organized the 10 full-time firefighters and EMS providers in Gorham, Maine.

The firefighters provide fire protection for Gorham and mutual support for neighboring communities. Gorham is also home to a progressive program designed for local college students interested in a career in emergency management. Students who are accepted in the program live-in the firehouse and answer calls with the full-time firefighters . Several of the new Teamsters ‘graduated’ from the program.

Currently Local 340 and the group have conducted proposals meetings and are working with the town on dates for negotiations.
