TEAMSTERS RALLY FOR COMMUNITY STANDARDS

TEAMSTERS RALLY FOR COMMUNITY STANDARDS
Teamsters members rallied for community standards in North Andover yesterday. Several hundred workers rallied to send a strong message to Amazon that community standards must be met.
Teamsters Local 25 Secretary-Treasurer Tom Mari addressed the crowd which included members of the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 35 and other members from other unions. Mari urged Amazon to improve its safety record and treatment of workers before any expansion into Boston and surrounding municipalities.
The Boston City Council was the first to put Amazon on notice by passing a resolution demanding improvements before any expansion into Boston. Since then Somerville, Cambridge, Medford, Revere, Chelsea, Malden and Withthrop have all passed measures demanding better from Amazon.
