ORGANIZING FOR POWER: SPRINGFIELD CASINO WORKERS JOIN LOCAL 404
More than 80 workers at the new MGM Casino in Springfield, Masschusetts were certified by a neutral arbitrator as Teamsters on October 8.
The new Teamsters work as regular full-time and regular part-time front desk agents, valet drivers, parking, PBX, shipping and receiving warehouse employees, limousine drivers and the hotel room reservation department employees.
“We’re proud to have these new members among our ranks,” said Frank Rossi, Teamsters Local 404 President. “The casino has been a Teamster job from start to finish. Teamsters helped build this new facility and now they will provide the service for the MGM customers.”
Local 404 is currently forming committees with the bargaining unit members and preparing to begin negotiations.
