LOCAL 340 TEAMSTERS@WORK: WESTBROOK FIRE DEPARTMENT
If you’ve ever called the Fire Department, Westbrook, Maine, you’ve been served by Teamsters from the moment the call center answered the call.
Since the 1980s, Teamsters Local 340 has represented workers at Westbrook’s Fire Department and Communications Center.
Currently Westbrook has approximately 70 Teamster firefighters who deal with more than just fires. The Department handles everything from medical calls to hazardous waste situations to general community service requests.
Teamsters also serve in the city’s communications department. Local 340 members handle nearly 100,000 calls annually, with 20 percent of them being emergency calls.
