ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SEAN M. O’BRIEN REGARDING THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 2020 LIGHT UP THE NIGHT GALA
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SEAN M. O’BRIEN REGARDING THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 2020 LIGHT UP THE NIGHT GALA
March 11, 2020
Dear Friends:
As many of you know the 13th Annual Light up the Night Gala in support of those living with autism is scheduled for March 21, 2020. Unfortunately, with the spread of the COVID-19, organizations across the country are cancelling a variety of events, gatherings and conventions in an attempt to limit the spread of this virus. Massachusetts has also declared a state of emergency. In the interests of our community’s health and safety, and with an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the Spring 2020 Light Up the Night Gala. We are optimistic we will be able to reschedule for the Fall of 2020.
Over the last 14 years, the Light Up the Night Gala has grown into one of Boston’s premier charity events. The Gala’s tremendous success has helped meet the needs of people affected by autism. We have created and maintained challenger baseball leagues for children with autism, we have championed legislation which will help families affected by autism and helped fund housing for those in need. We have done this through our members’ and sponsors’ generosity at the Gala event. It is a difficult decision to postpone the Gala, but we believe it is in the best interest of safety for our entire community, and we feel it is necessary.
We are sorry for any inconvenience that this postponement may cause. We are look forward to seeing you at the rescheduled event. With the continued support and dedication of our members and the generosity of our sponsors, Teamsters Local 25 will continue to be the voice for people and families affected by autism. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Autism Gala Co-Chair Trish DiSilva at 617-242-6124 or TDiSilva@teamsterslocal25.com.
Sincerely,
SEAN M. O’BRIEN
